The project
The project “FuturSkills” (GO TO WEBSITE) is a project funded under the Erasmus + Programme, Action Type KA210-VET – Small-scale partnerships in vocational education and training (KA210-VET) call 2024 Round 1.
FuturSkills stems from the critical recognition of the European Union’s strategic ambition to harness digital transformation as a cornerstone for economic growth and social inclusion as outlined in the European Skills Agenda and the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027.
The motivation behind FuturSkills is the imperative to prepare the EU workforce, particularly in vocational education and training (VET), with the advanced digital skills needed to thrive in a global marketplace increasingly driven by artificial intelligence.
FuturSkills aims to address these challenges by developing a standardised, high-quality AI curriculum accessible to VET students across the EU by promoting transnational cooperation between educational institutions, industrial and policy partners.
FuturSkills was designed to cater for a wide range of participants, focusing primarily on individuals within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. The main target group of the project comprises VET students aged between 18 and 30, a demographic group at a crucial stage of their educational and professional development.
In addition to students, FuturSkills aims to involve educators and trainers within the VET framework.
The project also targets industry professionals and SMEs, recognising the fundamental need for continuous professionalism in the face of rapid technological change. By involving this group, FuturSkills seeks to bridge the gap between current industry practices and training provision, ensuring that the skills taught are directly relevant to the labour market.
FuturSkills also places a strong emphasis on inclusivity, aiming to reach participants from underrepresented countries and disadvantaged backgrounds.
By focusing on the development of an EU-wide standardised AI curriculum, FuturSkills directly addresses the need to ensure that VET students receive contemporary education that is relevant and applicable to the current and future labour market.
Furthermore, the creation of a network of partnerships between educational institutions and companies is a key component of the project, addressing the need for closer cooperation between the education sector and industry.
The project will introduce a digital platform that will serve as a comprehensive repository for AI resources and a collaborative space for students, educators and professionals. This initiative aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and exchange, which is essential to keep pace with the rapid developments in AI education and its practical applications, thus supporting the vision of the EU Action Plan for Digital Literacy and promoting online learning environments.

The aim is to explore cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT and blockchain, and their applicability in creating sustainable and efficient educational ecosystems.
Another significant component of the activity is the focus on legal frameworks and policies governing digital education and sustainability initiatives.
